Vida Santa CPP

Vida Santa Free Methodist Church, a Spanish church plant in Baltimore, has had an amazing growth on it's first year. Pastor Fernando Gonzalez and his family have been working hard for the kingdom and the results are visible. Vida Santa Church had its first service in December 2009 and since then it has grown fast.
They reached an attendance of 65 in November 2010, but pastor Fernando wants to further. His plan is to plant churches all over the Baltimore/Washington DC area, wherever there is a English speaking FMC he wants also to plant a Spanish speaking church. Pray for Vida Santa Church and pastor Fernando's ministry and family!

Connection Conference Stories

Our annual conference meeting, which we call Connection Conference will take place June 12-14, 2011. We will be meeting Sunday evening, June 12th through Tuesday morning, June 14th. You will receive much more information in coming months.

We want to keep the focus of the Connection Conference on the work of God to take the Gospel to everyone everywhere. We believe that God "connects" people in our churches with new people - and oftentimes those new people have connections in relationship networks, neighborhoods, town, cities and nations that provide new opportunities for the Gospel of Jesus to advance.

At the Connection Conference we want to hear stories from your people who have relationships that take the Gospel of Jesus to new places. In other words, we want to hear the stories of relationships that have a global impact for the Kingdom of God.

Action Steps: Think about your people. Tell us about anybody in your church who has a great story of a relationship that has a global impact for the Kingdom of God. E-mail this information to marfmc@aol.com.

A Course on Wesleyan Theology

The Acts 12:24 Churches is providing a highly accessible and affordable opportunity to take “Wesleyan Theology.” One of our own pastors, Dr. William Kirchhofer (known to most of us as Willie) is teaching this class. He is providing the course on three weekends, meeting once a month beginning in December 2010 in Clifton, NJ.

This class will help Licensed Ministerial Candidates, Conference Ministerial Candidates or Licensed Pastors fulfill the requirement for a three-credit course in “Wesleyan Theology” in the ministerial track with the Free Methodist Church.

This three weekend format fulfills the course requirements in a way that many folks find to be more convenient than taking the class by correspondence, or attending a January-Term class. The course requirements include some reading assignments and a project.

A brochure that provides details on the class is available on our website, (www.midatlanticfmc.org). You can also download a copy of the Registration form, complete it and e-mail it to marfmc@aol.com.

If you’d like to attend this class, we will reserve a place for you in this class as soon as we receive your registration information. The cost of this course is $120 which represents a cost savings from other course options. Please make out your check to “New York Conference” and mail it to our office at P.O. Box 96, Belcamp, MD 21017 before the course begins.

If you have any questions about this course or the credentialing process with the Free Methodist Church, please feel free to contact Pastor Al Sones at alsones@aol.com.

Pastor Bill Rushik from our conference is a member of the board. For more information visit www.heritage1886.org.

The MEG Board Serves in the Development of Pastors

At the Fall Retreat, the Acts 12:24 Churches Board of Ministerial Education and Guidance (MEG) set strategy for the four clusters of the board. Because we cover such a large area, our board is divided into four clusters that do the work of the MEG throughout the year. There is a Northern Cluster led by Larry Light, a Central Cluster led by Vangi Swingle, a Southern Cluster led by Kenny Martin, and a New York Metro Cluster led by Supt. David Harvey and Al Sones.
There are many interviews to conduct between now and Annual Conference in June 2011. Some folks want to become Conference Ministerial Candidates. Others are asking to work toward ordination using the Apollos Track. A number of pastors are in transition and need to talk to the MEG about their futures.
Any individual who is taking coursework in preparation for a CMC interview or an ordination interview will need to finish that coursework by February 28, 2011 if you want to be scheduled for an interview in time for Annual Conference.
Please call the conference office at 410-297-8017 or e-mail the MEG Board Chair, Al Sones, if you have questions or are requesting an interview.

Acts 12:24 Churches Board’s Retreat

The Conference Board of Administration and MEG Board met for an overnight retreat in the Country Inn and Suites in Belcamp, MD. Friday evening, Sept 17, we were led in worship by Diogenes Cezila, pastor of Baltimore Brazilian church plant, and then led in devotions by Al Sones. Superintendent Harvey then spent some time casting vision for the future of Acts 12:24 Churches. He spoke on “What is an Acts 12:24 Church?” An Acts 12:24 church bears fruit two ways, he said; The Word of God increases as shown in the growing in righteousness and holiness in the lives of individual believers in our churches; and The Word of God spreads as groups and church multiply. On Saturday,Sept. 18, after worship and devotions the two boards met separately through the day to complete their business.

Beaumont Church - Land Dedication

In 2009 the Beaumont FMC in Buck Twp, PA purchased the building and property the church had used for more than 100 years. On Sunday, August 15th the congregation had a homecoming event in which they dedicated the property.

Interim Pastor Joe Gandia writes, "The power of God was so evident as we dedicated the land at Beaumont for the use of God's kingdom. We had four elders of the church with a vial of oil each, each one stood at the four corners of the tent symbolizing the borders of the property, I had asked Rev. Winston Hall to please bring his shofar, and he blew it four times, for each blow a vial of oil was poured out to anoint the ground for God's use. Talk about the power of God. People wept, others praised the Lord. And a strong spirit of solidarity in God, was felt. We had people there that had not been in the church for more than 10 years."

Bishop Roller challenged each person to start their own small group in the next three months.

The annual conference of the Acts 12:24 churches of the Mid-Atlantic Region of the Free Methodist Church was held on Friday afternoon with Bishop Matt Thomas presiding. During the conference we highlighted pastors and churches who are involved in multiplication. Superintendent Harvey was re-elected to a four year term.

Help Haiti Heal

We want to continue to be in prayer for the people of Haiti in this time of tragedy. Many of the people in our Haitian churches have loved ones that they have not been able to contact, or who are unaccounted for. There are 15,000 Free Methodists in our churches in Haiti and 17 Free Methodist Missionaries. Three Free Methodist missionaries are still unaccounted for.

Pray also for the people in our Haitian churches here in the United States. Both pastor Joseph Charles and Pastor Nedy Pierre have many family members in Haiti that they have been unable to contact, as do many of the people in all five of our Haitian churches.

You will find a link below to the denominational web site that has been set up to provide information. It has a message from Bishop Roller with information from Haiti, as well as instructions on how to give on line to relief efforts in Haiti. If you prefer to send your gifts through the mail there is also an address for the Bishop's Relief Fund.

http://www.fmwm.org/give/help_haiti_heal.php.

The denomination is trying to produce a video of the devastation that may be used in your church by this Sunday, but they are not sure they will be able to meet that deadline. We will let you know when it is available,

Please be faithful in prayer and giving to our Haitian brothers and sisters and our missionaries in the next days and weeks.

Please share this information with your congregation.
